What is ADHD?

There are three types that are diagnosed:

Inattentive type:

  • easily distracted
  • poor concentration and attention
  • disorganised
  • withdrawn behaviour

Hyperactive type:

  • overactive
  • excessive talking
  • fidgeting
  • impulsive actions

Combined type:

  • both Inattentive and Hyperactivity co-exist

Other common symptoms include:

Symptoms present differently between males and females. The inattentive type which is more common in females, is commonly missed. In schools, males are typically identified because of the impulsive behaviour and the inability to sit still and listen.
