Homework

Reading

We ask that you listen to your child read at least three times a week and to record this in their reading diary. In addition to this, to encourage reading for pleasure, we would ask you to find time to sit and read your child's sharing book with them. We would not expect your child to be able to read their sharing book to you as this is not matched to their reading level in the same way as their reading book is. Instead, this book is designed to be shared, with an adult ideally reading the book to their child.

Spellings

Each week, your child will be taught a new spelling rule in school. Every Friday, a sticker with the spellings we would like your child to learn will be stuck into their reading diary. These spellings will be tested the following Thursday. These spellings can be practiced on Spelling Shed but we would encourage some written practice of these works in readiness for the test. Copies of the spelling stickers being sent home each week can be found below:

Maths Shed and Spellings Shed

Your child will be set an assignment on Spelling Shed every Friday linked to the spelling rule being learnt as well as a Maths assignment linked to an area of maths that has been taught in the week. The link to the login page for this can be found below:

Numbots

Your child has access to a Numbots account to help develop their fluency with addition and subtraction facts. Each time your child completes a stage on Numbots they will be rewarded with a certificate in school so that you can keep track of your child's progress with this programme.
