ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Berry Hill Primary School opened on 1 September 2001, following the Mansfield re-organisation of schools. The school lies on the south side of town and occupies an attractive site, close to spacious parks and playing fields. The neighbourhood consists of a mixture of owner-occupiers and rented properties. The local area is an excellent resource and offers a range of opportunities as a learning environment.
We have capacity for 420 children from 5 – 11 years of age, with a 40 place Nursery for 3 – 4 year olds. Children are organised into single year group classes. The teaching staff consist of Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, Assistant Head Teacher plus 15 full time equivalent teachers, 1 part time teacher and 14 teaching assistants. The non - teaching staff consist of office manager and assistant, plus a team of Midday Supervisors, site manager, kitchen and cleaning staff.
Extended services are well established. The School Catering Service runs a Breakfast Club and an outside provider, Sherwood Childcare, is responsible for After School provision. Both of these clubs are term time only.
We follow the National Curriculum and aim to provide a good quality education for all children. We support the curriculum with visits out of school and visitors into school.
All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and there is a well - resourced ICT suite. There is a reference library, housed in the school reception area. Children in the Foundation Stage are housed in an award winning Nursery building and recently built classrooms. Both of these areas have suitable space for outdoor learning.
Externally there are three hard playing areas, one with an all - weather surface and others with new play equipment. ECO Club members, along with PTFA and Extended Services have worked hard to create wildlife habitats and vegetable growing areas.
The school has its own kitchen and a reception area comprising of Head Teacher’s room, Administration room, plus meeting room.
We are accredited with the Gold National Healthy School’s Standard. We are currently working towards the ECO School Award.
