Magical Mansfield Museum Visit!

Both Year 2 classes had a brilliant time at Mansfield museum where we learnt all about the seaside! We met our teacher, Geoff, and he gave us a tour of the museum at the start of the day. One of our activities was to label seaside pictures, and we played a picture card game to match old seaside things with modern day. Some of the pictures were from 100 years ago! We also played ‘in the sea, on the beach’ game where Olivia tried to drink sea water! We really enjoyed the Punch and Judy show before lunch; we thought it was really funny.

After lunch, we enjoyed playing some more games around the museum, and we earnt 5 pennies to spend on the promenade activities. Some of us spent our money on the fortune teller, on swimming toys, on the go karts and on sweets!

Before it was time to go back to school, we went through the Shaky Shrimp to see under the sea. We are going to be making portholes at school of what we saw. We have a fantastic fun day full of seaside smiles!

KS1 Sports Day

Wow! What a fantastic KS1 sports day! Thank you so much to all the spectators who came along and cheered the children on. The children were brilliantly enthusiastic and they participated in lots of fun activities including an egg and spoon challenge, bean bag throw and football dribbling!

A big thank you to the Year 6s for their help and support during the afternoon, helping to run activities and lead groups.

Also a big thank you to Mrs Kendall for organising the whole afternoon.

World Book Day Fun

As part of World Book Day, we held a competition where the children had to design a new book mark for their year group. We had some fantastic entries. We would like to thank school council for deciding the winners. A big well done to all of our winners:

Year 1 – Evie

Year 2 – Ava

Year 3 – Oliver

Year 4 – Isla

Year 5 – Evie

Year 6 – Rebecca

Keep checking for any more competitions.

We would all like to wish Her Majesty the Queen a happy 90th Birthday!

Summer 2016

We have some really interesting things coming up this term!

We will be learning about Journeys and finding out about The Wright Brothers’ first flight. We will also be learning about the first journey into space.

Later on in the Summer Term our topic will be Summer Time and Holidays. We will be learning about the seaside in the past and how it has changed to present day as well as looking at coastal locations on a map. As part of our summer theme, we will be finding out about minibeasts and their habitats.

KS1 Football Club Update

They will be teaching multiskills to year 1 and tennis to year 2. Please ensure that your child brings their PE kit suitable for indoor and outdoor activities in to school on a Monday morning so that they have it all week and take it home on a Friday.

Sports Relief 2016

A big congratulations to all the children who helped raise money for sports relief this year. Sports Relief is part of the Comic Relief Charity and raises money for worthy causes both within and outside of the UK.

For our fundraising activities we decided to do a sponsored mile. The children could run or walk for a mile around the school’s playground. Also, we had a sporty dress up day where all the children looked fantastic.

This year we raised an amazing £2223.50!

We would like to thank everyone for your continued support. We couldn’t have done it without you.

What a sporty bunch! We have all helped to raise money for Sports Relief.

A big well done to Mrs Kendall’s class on their brilliant assembly. All the children performed with loud and clear voices. You have all been very busy learning about the different types of houses and how they have changed over the years. We were all very impressed with your detailed sketches and models of houses. You all have thought of wonderful ideas of how we could help our world. We can’t wait to see what you get up to next!

What a great assembly! Well done Mrs Price's class. You have all worked super hard this term and you looked brilliant in your costumes.

Spring 2016

We have lots of exciting things coming up during the Spring Term!

We will be learning about homes and how they have changed from the past to present day.

As part of our homes topic we will be thinking about materials as well as designing and making a room for a house.

Later on in the Spring Term we will be thinking about ‘Our World’ including some Geography work about continents and seas. Our focus will also include how we can look after our World and we will be making some collage posters of our ideas. At the very end of the Spring Term we will learn about the celebration of Easter.

Our Class Targets

Every half term every class decides upon a target. They have to work together to achieve their target 100 times. If they complete this they will have a reward afternoon. The reward is also decided by the class.

Mrs Kendall's class target: To line up quickly and quietly.

Mrs Prices's class target: To use our manners.

Good luck to both classes smiley

Autumn 2015

We have lots of exciting things planned this term linked to our autumn topics.

We will be learning all about Ourselves, covering families and our neighbourhood and keeping healthy.

Later in the term our topic will be Festivals and Celebrations.

We will also be finding out about The Great Fire of London and take part in a theatre workshop.

We will find out about important festivals and celebrations like Harvest, Sukkot, Hanukkah and Christmas.

Festive Fun! Christmas Jumper Day!
