Alice

An enormous well done to all the children who took part in this year’s production of Alice. All the cast performed brilliantly, they all worked extremely hard to learn their lines and songs. The choir sounded wonderful throughout the performances and the back stage crew helped to organise the show. Last but not least, a big thank you to the audiences who joined in with the performances as well. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part and we are all very proud of them.

Key Stage 2 Sports Day Friday 24th June 2016

Thank you to all of the children for a brilliant sports day at the Berry Hill Park Athletics Track.

The children were excellent and showed great teamwork skills as well as working hard individually to earn points for their team.

Congratulations to this year’s winners…green team!

The results were as follows:

  1. Green Team
  2. Blue Team
  3. Yellow Team
  4. Red Team

Well done Green Team, the Key Stage 2 Sports Day trophy will be wearing the green ribbons until we do it all again next year! J

Thank you to all of the spectators who came along to support the children, it was great to see so many of you there!

A BIG thank you to our volunteers who gave up their own time to help run the event; Mr Ian Clark, Mrs Sutcliffe, Mrs Hardy-Griffiths, Mrs Smith’s two daughters, Mrs Ellis and Mrs White.

Finally, well done to Mrs Kendall for organising another fantastic Sports Day.

PE KIT UPDATE
We will provide children with a coloured bib for their team.
Can all children bring their normal PE kits - white/red t-shirt, black shorts or trousers, trainers, jumper/zip up jacket and a hat (if needed).
Thank you for your support.

As part of World Book Day, we held a competition where the children had to design a new book mark for their year group. We had some fantastic entries. We would like to thank school council for deciding the winners. A big well done to all of our winners:

Year 5 – Evie

Year 6 – Rebecca

Keep checking for any more competitions.

What a fantastic World Book Day

Summer Term

Our new topic for this term is The Stone Age. We are very excited about this topic and are confident that we will enjoy it. During this topic, some of the things we will learn about include:

  • When it happened in relation to other significant events in history
  • How people lived
  • Using historical language
  • To set up an archaeological excavation
  • Cave paintings

If you have anything that you could offer towards our topic, then please feel free to come in and see either Miss Senior or Mrs Brodie.

Sports Relief 2016

A big congratulations to all the children who helped raise money for sports relief this year. Sports Relief is part of the Comic Relief Charity and raises money for worthy causes both within and outside of the UK.

For our fundraising activities we decided to do a sponsored mile. The children could run or walk for a mile around the school’s playground. Also, we had a sporty dress up day where all the children looked fantastic.

This year we raised an amazing £2223.50!

We would like to thank everyone for your continued support. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Parents/carers are welcome to come into the classrooms on Friday 1st April from 2.45pm onwards to look at topic work their children have done. Due to Year 4 having football with a qualified coach Miss Senior’s class are inviting parents/carers on Thursday 31st March from 2:45pm onwards. Miss Gordon’s/Mrs Brodie's class will be on Friday as planned. We look forward to seeing you then.

Thank you

Getting creative with clay

World Book Day

Year 4 are really looking forward to our trip to the park. We are going to develop the park further by planting some fruit trees.

Please can all children wear school uniform and bring sensible footwear in a bag to be stored in the classroom until it is their classes turn to go to the park.

Thank you for your support.

Spring 2016

Year 4 Football Coaching

I am delighted to announce that we will be having a professional football coach coming in to work with us in year 4 during our PE sessions.

He will be here for seven weeks on a Friday starting on Friday 5th February 2016 until Friday 1st April 2016. He will teach and develop football skills and help the children to apply their skills into a game.

If your child has a pair of shin pads then these can be worn during the football sessions. However, the coach has said that they are not essential so please do not worry about rushing out and buying any!

A big THANK YOU to Mrs Kendall for organising these special PE sessions for us!

We have lots of exciting things coming up during the Spring Term!

This term we will be travelling back in time to learn all about the Ancient Egyptians. We are all really excited about learning about how the Egyptians lived, dressed, worked, were educated and much, much more. We already know the Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics to write. We are all looking forward to writing our names using hieroglyphics.

Later on in the Spring Term we will be creating a replica of an Ancient Egyptian invention!

Keep watching this space to see some of our lovely pieces of work!

Our Class Targets

Every half term every class decides upon a target. They have to work together to achieve their target 100 times. If they complete this they will have a reward afternoon. The reward is also decided by the class.

Miss Senior's class target: To have no warnings.

Mrs Hammond's class target: To actively listen to whoever is speaking.

Good luck to both classes smiley

Autumn 2015

This term we have been looking at Water, Water Everywhere in out topic lessons. All the children have really enjoyed learning about the water cycle, and they were fully engaged during our trip to Moorland Discovery Centre to explore the river's journey.

We will now be learning all about L.S. Lowry and his fantastic art pieces.

Watch this space for super art work!

Year 4

Take a Bow!

The children of Key Stage 2 have been busy singing songs, making costumes and learning lines ready for our Christmas production the ‘Children of the World’. This year, the children have been learning about Christmas traditions from all across the world! We were taken on a journey of Christmas by some very interesting angels.

Have a look through our pictures to see if you can guess which country we were!
