What is Oracy?

Oracy is the ability to communicate effectively through spoken language. It encompasses the skills of speaking and listening, empowering children to become confident communicators, critical thinkers and collaborative learners.

How We Teach Oracy

High-quality talk is planned, modelled and practised every day through a carefully sequenced range of strategies and resources.

Our approach is carefully sequenced from Nursery to Year 6, ensuring every child progressively develops the knowledge, vocabulary and confidence to communicate effectively.

Talk on Tuesday

Every Tuesday, we share a simple discussion prompt for families to enjoy together at home. These short conversations encourage children to explain their thinking, listen to different viewpoints and develop the confidence to express their ideas.

There are no right or wrong answers - just opportunities to think aloud, listen to others and learn together.
